Numu means sun in the language of the Chorotega - the Indigenous people of Guanacaste. This beautiful word carries what we wish for every child: to grow towards the light, to discover their own inner wisdom, and to follow their own unique path.
Numu significa sol en la lengua de los chorotegas, el pueblo indígena de Guanacaste. Esta hermosa palabra encierra lo que deseamos para cada niño: crecer hacia la luz, descubrir su propia sabiduría interior y seguir su propio camino.
Our vision is a school where children learn the way they were meant to: through story and wonder, through their hands and their hearts, through the forest and the sea that surround us. Where strong academic foundations grow alongside emotional awareness, creativity, and a deep sense of self. Where a child is known - not measured - and met exactly where they are.
Nuestra visión es una escuela donde los niños aprendan como fueron hechos para aprender: a través del relato y el asombro, con las manos y con el corazón, a través del bosque y del mar que nos rodean. Donde bases académicas sólidas crezcan junto a la conciencia emocional, la creatividad y un profundo sentido de sí mismos. Donde cada niño sea conocido, no medido, y acompañado justo donde está.

It begins with a question, a moment of curiosity, a connection made while exploring the world around us. It grows through hands-on experiences, meaningful conversations, creative projects, and the freedom to wonder, imagine, and discover.

At Numu, we believe children learn best when they feel engaged, trusted, and inspired. We balance strong academic foundations with the space children need to explore their interests, develop confidence, and build a genuine love of learning.
En Numu creemos que los niños aprenden mejor cuando se sienten motivados, en confianza e inspirados. Equilibramos bases académicas sólidas con el espacio que necesitan para explorar sus intereses, ganar confianza y construir un amor auténtico por aprender.
Our approach is rooted in connection - to self, to community, to nature, and to the learning process itself. Within our small, mixed-age environment, children are guided by caring educators who encourage them to think independently, ask meaningful questions, and take an active role in their own growth.
Nuestro enfoque se arraiga en la conexión - con uno mismo, con la comunidad, con la naturaleza y con el propio proceso de aprender. En nuestro grupo pequeño y de edades mixtas, los niños son acompañados por educadores cercanos que los animan a pensar por sí mismos, hacer preguntas significativas y tomar un papel activo en su propio crecimiento.
Because learning isn't something that happens to children. It's something they help create.

- Ages
Mixed-age learning, 3 to 12. Fostering collaboration, leadership, and the natural exchange of knowledge between younger and older children.
- Schedule
Monday to Friday. Arrival window 8:00 to 8:30, pick up at 15:00.
- Teachers
Warm, caring and experienced teachers guiding the day.
- Spanish
Spanish immersion. Lessons and daily interactions take place primarily in Spanish. Children are supported at their individual level, allowing them to build confidence and fluency.
- Learning
Inspired by Waldorf and Forest School principles, we balance strong academics with storytelling, creativity, outdoor exploration, movement, and hands-on learning.
- Edades
Aprendizaje en edades mixtas, de 3 a 12 años. Fomenta la colaboración, el liderazgo y el intercambio natural de conocimiento entre los más pequeños y los mayores.
- Horario
De lunes a viernes. Entrada entre 8:00 y 8:30, salida a las 15:00.
- Docentes
Docentes cálidas, cercanas y con experiencia acompañando el día.
- Español
Inmersión en español. Las clases y la convivencia diaria se dan principalmente en español. Cada niño recibe apoyo según su nivel, para ganar confianza y fluidez.
- Aprendizaje
Inspirados en los principios Waldorf y Forest School, equilibramos una base académica sólida con la narración, la creatividad, la exploración al aire libre, el movimiento y el aprendizaje con las manos.
